Rebuilding SK Schools Timeline

The South Kitsap School District Board of Directors has a goal of a ballot measure in November 2023.
If the measure is approved by more than 60% of voters, the school planning, design, and construction phase will begin. 

January - November 2023

Community Education on Ballot Measure

Once the bond package is finalized by the School Board, the Bond Steering Committee will provide the community with a series of informational events and resources so voters can make an informed decision.

 
October - December 2022

Thought Exchange on Priorities for Improvement

The community is asked to share thoughts on the priorities identified by the Bond Steering Committee. What do you think about rebuilding Cedar Heights Middle School, Olalla Elementary, and South Colby Elementary and dedicating a large portion of the bond to improvements and repairs districtwide. Initial Community Engagement by Bond Steering Committee

A series of community engagement events hosted by the Bond Steering Committee to share information and gather feedback on priorities. The committee scheduled 9 events in schools around the district. A presentation was shared and attendees were asked to share feedback.

Bond Steering Committee Formed to Develop Bond Package

The Bond Steering Committee’s work is the next step in taking the Long Range Facility Committee’s recommendation and narrowing the focus into a package for voter consideration.

District Long Range Facility Planning Committee Develops Recommendation

The SKSD Board formed the Long Range Facility Planning Committee to evaluate the physical condition of all district sites and provide a recommendation for improvements. The committee of 11 community members, two School Board Membes, and district staff developed a thorough report with more than $500 million in identified improvement needs.
