More October 2025 SK Way Awards - Thank you for living the SK Way
Grama Carolyn

When it comes to "Thinking Big", few embody the South Kitsap spirit quite like Carolyn "Grama Carolyn"
Youngker. Through her upbeat and heartfelt posts as @gramacarolyn, she’s become a beloved community voice - especially her spirited support for South Kitsap High School and our students. Her joyful videos and encouragement during the T-Mobile Friday Night 5G Lights contest have helped rally the community behind our Wolves. Her infectious energy, positive storytelling, and love for South Kitsap remind us that thinking big doesn’t always mean doing more, it means inspiring others to believe in what’s possible. Thank you, Grama Carolyn, for using your creativity to shine a bright light on South Kitsap!

Stephen Startz

Stephen brings the SK Way to life in a way that inspires everyone around him. Stephen (Mr. S) makes kids
feel seen, safe, and valued. The way the faces of kids brighten when he is around is remarkable. He listens with empathy and leads with kindness. His belief in every child is powerful. Even when they’re struggling or shutting down, Stephen is steady. He’s the quiet voice that reminds them they’re capable of more. Steve gives them hope and the courage to start believing it.

Steven Warner

During the October 9 Senior Night Football Game, the SKHS Video Production class filmed the event live but our sports announcers were unavailable. Steven willingly stepped up on short notice to announce the SK football game. He had never announced a game before but went above and beyond by doing research on Port Orchard, past players and factual information to add to the broadcast for color commentary. He did it with a happy heart and stayed late on a Thursday night to help out. Thank you!
