District Welcomes New Members to the Business and Special Services Leadership Team
South Kitsap School District is excited to announce the hiring of two key leadership positions effective July 1, 2024. We welcome Heather Korten as the new Director of Business Services and Cristin Blaskowitz as the a Director of Special Services. Both bring extensive experience and a deep commitment to enhancing our district's operations and support services.
Heather Korten: Director of Business Services
Heather Korten joins us as the new Director of Business Services, succeeding Andrea Cooper who will be departing at the end of June. Heather is a seasoned financial leader with a rich background in school district finance, accounting, and fiscal support. Since 2017, she has been with Olympic Service District 114, where she held various roles and led a team managing payroll, accounting, and year-end reporting for multiple school districts. Prior to her tenure at OESD, Heather worked at Key Bank.
Heather holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and Accounting from Washington State University. She is committed to ensuring smooth and efficient business operations and fostering a positive work environment for staff.

Cristin Blaskowitz: Director of Special Services
Cristin Blaskowitz joins us as a Director of Special Services. Cristin brings a wealth of experience from her 16-year tenure as Executive Director of Student Services and Assessment at Eatonville School District. In this role, she oversaw Special Education, Title I, LAP, and Bilingual programs, as well as Mental Health/Counseling Services, Health Services, and Paraeducator Certification. Prior to her work in Eatonville, she served as a Special Education Specialist in the Puyallup School District.
Cristin holds a Bachelor of Education from Pacific Lutheran University, a Master’s in Education from the University of Washington, and a Principal Credential from City University. She is passionate about fostering equitable opportunities for all students and is committed to building strong relationships with staff and families through collaboration, effective communication, and a service leadership model.
In her new role, Cristin will collaborate with Executive Director Eric Nerison, Director Kimberly House, and Program Coordinator Sheila Ammons as part of the Special Services Department restructuring.
