English Language Learner

Students for whom English is not their primary language may receive assistance through the state funded English Language Learner Program.

Currently South Kitsap School District serves over 200 ELL students who speak 28 different languages. The program serves students whose primary language is other than English and whose language skills are sufficiently deficient to impair learning. All eligible students with parent permission receive services. Six paraeducators travel between school sites, working with students on their English language skills and assisting them with being successful in academic content areas.
