Arts

The South Kitsap Visual and Performing Arts programs provide opportunities for all students to explore ways to express themselves creatively. Instruction in the classroom centers on technical skill, historical and cultural contexts, and producing creative works to share with the public.

Visual Arts

Exploring a variety of media, art classes in South Kitsap offer students the opportunity for hands on practice at techniques ranging from pencil and paper drawing to ceramics, textiles, and digital art. Students engage in making connections to art history and contemporary artists through research and critiques. High School arts students participate in a art showcase in the spring, many students submitting works to the state student art competition.

Theater & Stagecraft

Theater classes throughout South Kitsap afford students at all levels to learn the fundamentals of acting, stage performance, set construction, theatre design and the opportunity to flex their expressive skills on stage and behind the scenes. South Kitsap High School boasts a robust theater program with many students garnering awards at local Thespian festivals, putting on multiple performances throughout the year.

Music

South Kitsap School District boasts a vibrant music program, offering instruction in string orchestra, band, and choir for students in grades 5-12. Welcome classes for all skill levels, students engage in comprehensive music instruction, focusing on instrument and vocal technique, music theory, musicianship, and performance. All music programs provide a robust performance schedule in district and secondary students participate in regional and state-level festivals and competitions throughout the year.

It is our mission to provide every student in the South Kitsap School District an opportunity to Create, Perform, and Respond through Dance, Music, Theatre, and the Visual Arts.
