Remote Learning - Support for SK Students
Posted on 04/17/2020
Remote Learning PlanThe South Kitsap Remote Learning Program kicked off the week of April 6.

Devices and access for students
We reached out with a survey on access to remote learning and each school has followed up with families. They are finalizing device check out and a plan for support for families that need printed materials.

We are not able to provide internet hot spots to students. There are areas around town with free wifi (downtown Port Orchard, outside KRL Manchester and PO libraries, and near many of our schools and the Armory).

Staff guidance and expectations
District and building leaders are working with teachers to reinvent instruction. The show must go on and it looks different than what teachers and families are used to. This has been a tremendous team effort! We are making every effort to develop meaningful instruction for all students.

Families can expect teachers and principals to reach out frequently over email, phone, and Zoom video. Pay attention to blocked number phone calls. For privacy, teachers may block their caller ID from personal numbers when contacting families.

Please check and read your email frequently. We are working hard to share information and want to keep you informed.  Don't be afraid to ask questions and encourage students to do the same. We are all learning through this process.

Thank you for your patience and support.
