Celebrating National Nurses Week at SKSD
As South Kitsap School District (SKSD) joins the nation in celebrating Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, we also recognize an equally vital group during National Nurses Week.
This year's theme, "The Power of Nurses," reminds us of the unwavering dedication and profound impact nurses have on our lives.
👩⚕️ Nurses bring comfort in times of distress,
🛡️ Ensure safety in critical moments with their knowledge, and
💚 Foster healing through their clinical expertise.
Nowhere is this more evident than in our own schools.
📅 National School Nurse Day is May 7, and we take this opportunity to honor our small but mighty team of 13 dedicated school nurses, who together bring more than 250 years of nursing experience to SKSD.
Every day, they care for our 9,497 students—supporting over 1,200 individual health plans and managing 784 medications, including 465 emergency medications.
💪 Our nurses are on the frontlines of increasingly complex and life-threatening student health needs, ensuring students receive the care they need to thrive in school.
We deeply appreciate the accomplishments and tireless efforts of our school nurses.
🙏 Thank you for your commitment to student-centered care, for keeping our students healthy, safe, and ready to learn, and for supporting families and communities by helping parents stay at work with peace of mind.
🌟 Today, and every day, we honor your service.
