Right At School Childcare Selected by District Committee

Dear South Kitsap Families,

Thank you to the parents and community members who stepped forward in January to serve on the district committee to review before and after school childcare options. Their input was critical as the district conducted a formal Request for Proposals, also known as RFP, to select a provider for the 2026-2027 school year.

We received proposals from Innovation Learning, Right at School, Hokali, and Champions. The YMCA did not submit a proposal. Committee members reviewed the proposals closely, using criteria identified as most important: affordability, program quality, accessibility, and student wellbeing.

After careful consideration, Right at School received the highest overall score and we intend to award the contract as the sole provider for before and after school care in South Kitsap School District for the 2026-2027 school year, pending school board approval.

We know childcare is deeply personal and many of our families have built relationships with Innovation Learning and Champions. Change can be difficult, and we acknowledge that upfront. Our goal is to ensure families have access to safe, high quality, and dependable childcare, and we are committed to making this transition as smooth as possible.  

Before/After Childcare Providers:

Right at School will provide programs at:

• Manchester, Mullenix Ridge, Orchard Heights, South Colby and Hidden Creek where the program will continue.
• Burley Glenwood, East Port Orchard, Sunnyslope, Sidney Glen, and Olalla where the program will transition from Innovation Learning.

We are working closely with Right at School to prepare for the transition and will share registration information, summer program, and family support resources as they become available. All information will be posted on the South Kitsap School District website.
